Northstar Pulp & Paper opens international division
August 14, 2003
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – Northstar Pulp & Paper Co., Inc., has gone global. With the implementation of Northstar International, this well-known and respected company can now ship directly into Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. Before the creation of Northstar International, Northstar used brokers to sell products overseas.
“We cut out the middleman, which results in a definite cost savings for our clients, ” said Seth J. Goodman, principal of Northstar. “Plus, we can now purchase and sell a broader array of products, which, in turn, creates more value for our customers and suppliers.”
Goodman also noted that branching into the international market has helped Northstar more effectively spread out its risk. “Before we were only dealing with U.S. and Canadian mills,” he said. “Now we are dealing with the world, which means we have a larger market for our products.”
The commodities Northstar International will be trading include the whole range of secondary fiber products, bulk grades, deinking grades and direct pulp substitutes, as well as unique, hard-to-move items.
With this exciting new venture underway, Northstar has chosen two industry leaders to head the international division and help the company continue its current growth trend. Shlomo Baharav and Jerry Goodman, both based in Israel, have joined Northstar International and will lead the company’s worldwide efforts. The two bring more than 60 years of combined experience to Northstar International.
“We are so pleased to have these two people heading up our international division,” said Goodman. “They both bring an incredible amount of experience and important contacts to our company.”
